Circlet of Saresh (Click For Picture) The wealthy Saresh family of Taris were once known as much for their arrogance and cruelty as for their vast riches and political power. But over the last century many of the family have shown a strong affinity to the Force (This "last century" is referring to the century previous to the time of KoToR), and been taken in by the Jedi for training. Foremost among these was Guun Han Saresh, heir to the family fortune. To celebrate Guun Han's acceptance into the Order, his father commissioned the crafting of a powerful headband: the Circlet of Saresh. To prevent this spectacular gift from leading his son down the path of arrogance and pride - an all too real possibility given the Saresh family history - the circley was fashioned so that only one who is a true servant of the light can use it. The circlet was in Guun Han's possession when he disappeared shortly after the time of the Great Hunt and was recovered by the Jedi who was formerly known as Darth Revan. Codex This ancient Jedi artifact was created by the Cthol race. Resembling a small, metallic pyramid, the Codex was designed to measure and manipulate the Force. It is a dull gold color, and is covered with mystic engravings and small crystal-studded patterns. When used by a properly trained Jedi, the Codex glows slightly and hums. Among its many uses, the Codex can locate disturbances in the Force. It can also augment a Jedi's ability to call upon and use the Force. Continued use of the Codex makes the user susceptible to the Dark Side of the Force. When used, however, the Codex sends tremendous shock waves throught the Force. This is what first attracted the Dark Jedi Halbret to it. When it was later found by Pann, the Codex had become brittle and easily damaged. Force Training Aids (Click For Picture) Long ago, Jedi discovered that younger students were far easier to train in the ways of the Force than older ones. They're more likely to absorb the philosophy of the Jedi while avoiding the temptations of the dark side. To prevent early training from becoming too dull or rigid, instructors developed a number of training aids that allowed Jedi trainees to enjoy their instruction time. The three types detailed below - alter toys, control toys, and image emitters - were most common during the latter years of the Old Republic. Alter toys come in a variety in shapes, sizes, and functions. The toys contain objects that can be seen but not physically touched. Examples include clears spheres and small cubes containing objects meant to be manipulated in order to create a certain pattern or solve a puzzle. All these toys encourage Force-sensitive students to manipulate the objects using the Force. An alter toy usually costs 25 credits. Control toys include colourful disks that keep track of the heart rate of any creature they're placed on, handgips that emit bright lights as the holder's body temperature rises and lowers, and figures that move at the same rate as the owner's breathing. They all perform interesting or colourful acts when the vital statistics of a creature holding them changes in a predetermined way. These toys encourage young Force-sensitive students to change their automatic responses in small ways using the Force. A control toy usually costs 25 credits. The image emitter is a simple device, a handheld viewscreen attached to a small computer. The devices's memory holds millions of random images. When activated, the image emitter slowly and randomly cycles through these images, displaying them one at a time on a screen only visible from one side. Such emitters were often used to test Jedi candidates for Force-sensitivity. The candidate is asked to sense with the Force what images are being displayed. Although it is possible to do this with Farseeing, it's far more likely for the candidate to use the Force to sense their surroundings. An image emitter costs 50 credits. Great Holocron (Click For Picture) This was the largest and most comprehensive of the Jedi Holocrons, produced during the height of the Old Republic. It was a twelve-sided device that was designed for ease of use, and was called upon to provide young students of the Force with easy access to the ancient lore and training of the Jedi. Deep within the Jedi temple on Coruscant, thousands of years of collected Republic history, studiously maintained by the Jedi since the earliest days of the order, resides the Archives Library. Among the collected histories, records, teachings, and solemn busts depicting Jedi long dead, the Great Holocron awaits all those students of the Force willing to learn from its vast stores of collected knowledge. Unlike some Force artifacts, the twelve-sided Great Holocron was designed specifically for ease of use, especially by young Jedi trainees. Some, including Archives Director Madame Jocasta Nu, have speculated that even Yoda may not yet have learned all its mysteries. Regardless, it is said to be the largest and most powerful holocron in the Archives Library. The Great Holocron will not respond to characters without Force-Sensitivity. Permission to access the Great Holocron is available to Jedi and those deemed worthy by the Jedi Order, but the artifact does not give up its deepest secrets to the novice. There are varying levels of information it will give the user, which are listed below. 1. One query limited to the factual history of the Republic. Many sections, especially dark side-related information, are still concealed. Basics of lightsaber construction explained. 2. One query that may include history or philosophy. Dark Force secrets still elusive, Sith history and ancient Republic records are not. More complicated lightsaber construction, including double-bladed and variable-length varieties, explored in historical terms. 3. Two queries in the subjects of combat, history, and philosophy. Dark side explored with some depth, including more intensive techniques to resist its call. 4. Two queries into combat, history, philosophy, and the dark side. As a Jedi artifact, information on the dark side is rarely complimentary, but at this level is otherwise unrestricted. Three queries, otherwise the same level of information as 3. 5. Four queries, unlimited access. Note that some secrets, such as the deepest workings of the Sith, still may not be contained in the Great Holocron. The Great Holocron will not reveal the secrets of Sith sorcery, for example, to a 14-year-old Human Padawan without an especially strong disturbance in the Force likely to alert the Archives Director. Young students often must be pulled from the Holocron before they sap their vitality. The Great Holocron is available only during the Rise of the Empire era and remains lost in the other eras. Holocrons convey information through holographic Force representations of the Jedi Master whose teachings they hold, so the more cryptic your depiction, the better. And when in doubt you are, recommended is grammar odd. Healing Crystals of Fire These firey gemstones were among the greatest treasures of the Jedi Knights. Maintained under tight security in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, they were used heal serious wounds. Inside each gemstone was an eternal flame. Xanatos attempted to steal these stones, along with a cache of vertex crystals, several years after he left the Jedi Order. He attempted to cover up his plans by also attempting to kill Yoda and destroy the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Heart of the Universe This ancient Jedi tool was a wondrous gem created by Jaled Dur. References to the existence of the Heart were discovered by Alliance agents during the Galactic Civil War, although it was being held by the Dark Jedi Croym. A group of Force-sensitive agents managed to infiltrate Croyn's castle and recover the Heart before it could be used for evil. Holocrons (Click For Picture) Known originally as a holographic chronicle. Holocrons are custom-built instructional tools used by Jedi Masters. These small crystalline cubes store volumes of holographic records documenting the history and lore of the Jedi Knights. Some Holocrons are simple cubes, while others have ornate geometric shapes or ornate symbols etched into their crystalline faces. Each Holocron has its own different access method, such as touching a specific panel or speaking a certain phrase aloud. The Holocron built by the fames Master Bodo Baas automatically activated as soon as it was grasped by anyone who was attuned to the Force. Holocrons use what seems to be a forgotten technology through which many crystals form a complex latticework that serves to record and reproduce holographic images and sound. They appear to have unlimited storage capacity and have no visible energy source. Holocron records depict important historical events, such as the struggle to defeat Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun, or document a Master's training and meditation techniques. Jedi Knights used their Holocrons to explain newly formulated Force abilities and record their theories about the nature of the Force. These devices provided a means of passing Jedi knowledge from generation to generation to ensure that the lessons of the past - both heroic and tragic - would never be forgotten. However, a Holocron is more than a collection of static recordings. It is an interactive teaching tool, an intuitive logic module that faithfully re-creates the images and personalities of past Jedi Masters, who act as hosts. The Jedi who built the Holocron is the primary host, while other contributors add their images and personalities to host their sections. The hosts guide Jedi students through specific lessons, imparting information, and also testing their abilities. They pose philisophical challenges about the nature of the Force to help Jedi students master their new abilities while remaining in harmony with the light side of the Force. These guides restrict access to sensitive information - particularly techniques related to advanced Force powers - until students have proved their ability to use the knowledge responsibly. Unfortunately, the ancient Jedi Holocrons have allbut disappeared from the galaxy. Emperor Palpatine destroyed many as part of his plan to obliterate the Jedi Knights. Luke Skywalker first learned about these devices during his tutorials with Obi-Wan Kenobi, but he didn't actually see one until nearly a decade later, when he confronted the reincarnated Emperor Palpatine, who possessed the Holocron of Master Bodo Baas. Luke and Princess Leia Organa Solo liberated this device, and Luke used it to greatly improve his knowledge of the Force. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during the struggle against the Emperor's forces. It is believed that other Holocrons may still survive, hidden in the isolated huts of long-dead Jedi Masters, awaiting a time when those strong in the Force will rediscover the old ways. Jedi Battle Armour (Click For Picture) During the Sith Wars, the Jedi Knights faced armies of Sith armed with Lightsabers of their own. In an effort to protect themselves from the dark fury of their foes, the greatest Jedi armourers developed battle armour that was the best possible protection against a Lightsaber blow. Each set of Jedi armour had to be specially designed for the Jedi who wore it. Even a custom set of Jedi battle armour is still unwieldly enough to restrict a Jedi's movement slightly. After the Jedi believed the Sith had been destroyed, they removed their armour and swore never to take it up again. This act was a gesture of peace, reassuring the planets of the galaxy that the Jedi would not become a conquering army. As a result, the art of making the armour has been lost by the time of the Emperor's rise to power, though the information may be held in any of the ancient Jedi archives. Jedi Credits These medallions, sometimes referred to as Jedcreds, were unique to the Corellian Jedi tradition. When a Corellian Jedi attained the rank of Jedi Master, a limited number of coins were minted in his honor. The Jedi Master then gave them to friends and family to show his relationship to them. Though the coin had no monetary value as currency, it held social and political power. Misuse of a Jedi credit was rare, because a Jedi Master would often predict whether a friend or family member could be trusted with the medallion. More than one reckless dilettante bemoaned his fate when a relative became a Jedi Master and did not entrust him with a Jedcred. Before the Clone Wars, Jedi credits could not be bought. No thief in his right mind would dare steal one for fear of the Jedi Master who would come looking for it. After the Clone Wars, no new Jedi credits were minted, though some may have survived. Any Jedi credits found after the Clone War are definitely artifacts of the past, and they are valued accordingly. One known surviving medallion belongs to Corran Horn. It was minted to celebrate the ascension of Corran's grandfather, Nejaa Halcyon, to the rank of Jedi Master. Nejaa gave it to his friend Rostek Horn, who after the Jedi Master's death in the Clone Wars married Nejaa's widow, adopted Corran's father, and erased all links between his new family and the Jedi for their protection. Until the Jedi Purge, a Jedi credit could be used to increase the possessor's influence in social situations. On Corellia, displaying a Jedi credit grants a bonus when negotiating, especially if the person has a reason to fear Jedi. Outside the Corellian sector, the Jedi credit is not as effective. After the Jedi Purge, possession of a Jedi credit is a crime. The social and political influence of the Jedcred dwindled as the influence of the Jedi Order decreased. By the time of the Rebellion, remaining Jedi credits were nothing more than trinkets or historical relics. Jedi Utility Belt The Jedi version of a utility belt has several pouches containing a three-day supply of food capsules, a medpac, a tool kit, a spare power pack, a spare energy cell, a comlink, an Aquata Breather, and a couple of empty pouches for whatever else the wearer wants to add. The total cost is 600 credits, including the belt itself. A utility belt with the assortment given above weighs 4 kilograms. Any Jedi embarking on a mission for the Jedi Council during the Rise of the Empire era receives one of these utility belts, or at least the materials necessary to refill an existing one. In other eras, Jedi procure their own supplies, though the Jedi Order of the time certainly wouldn't have a problem providing a simple belt and pouches. Nomi's Armband Nomi displayed incredible affinity for the Force, but only reluctantly pursued Jedi training following the death of her husband, Andur. She became one of the greatest Jedi of the time, training under Master Thon. This armband was owned by Nomi, and it has been imbued with the Force to make the wearer more resiliant to the dark side. Noris Robe Stained with pigments from the beatiful and rare norris root found on the planet Almas, these robes are naturally resistant to energy. Ossus Keeper Robes The Keepers of the Hall of Knowledge in the Great Jedi Library maintained the protected archives and acted as references to those who desires a more interactive solution to the problem. The robes are a status symbol, as only the keepers are permitted to wear them. Padawan's Resource Guide This document was produced by the Jedi Masters who controlled the Almas Academy. It contained all the basic information an aspiring student of the Force would need to understand how the Almas Academy differed from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. It also documented the three convergent paths a student at the Almas Academy had to traverse: the Jedi philosophy, and how it applied to their individual nature; the Jedi peace, and how deeply a student can attune himself to the Force; and the Jedi promise, in which a student must face their greatest fears in order to pledge themselves to the Jedi Code. Qel-Droma Belt The Qel-Droma family has produced many powerful Force sensitives. Some, such as Cay Qel-Droma, have been shining examples of the strength of the Force. Others, like Cay's brother Ulic, have fallen prey to the temptations of the dark side. This belt has been made by the Qel-Droma family in such a way that the user is slightly less affected by others using either the dark, or light side of the Force against them, though neutral powers will still affect them just as easily. Qel-Droma Robes The Force is strong in the Qel-Droma blood, and many of the family have joined the Jedi Order over the centuries. These robes were created as a gift for Cay Qel-Droma during hte war against Exar Kun, and it is said that only one who truly walks the path of the light can wear them. Cay himself wore the robes in his duel against Ulic Qel-Droma, his brother who had fallen to the dark side. Cay was slain in the battle, but his death at his brother's hand eventually lead to Ulic's redemption. These powerful robes passed down to Duran Qel-Droma, Cay's cousin, when he joined the Jedi. But Duron disappeared shortly after the time of the Great Hunt, and these robes were lost with him on Korriban, where they were later discovered by the former dark lord Darth Revan, and returned to the Jedi Order. Solari Crystal (Click For Picture) There are many famous Lightsaber crystals spoken of in the history of the Jedi Order, though none is as powerful as the legendary Solari Crystal. An Artifact of true light side power, only those Jedi who are pure in spirit can wield a Lightsaber equiped with this gleaming white gem. When the great Jedi Master Ood Bnar initiated his life-cycle change after a thousand years of serving the Order, he bequeathed the Solari Crystal to his most promising student, a young female Jedi named Shaela Nuur. When Shaela disappeared shortly after the time of the Great Hunt, the Solari Crystal vanished with her. Star Forge Robes (Click For Picture) Created by the mystical technology of the Star Forge, these robes focus the inherent Force abilities of the wearer, fueling their power. Although the Star Forge itself is an artifact of the dark side, these robes were customized using an analysis of the Jedi they were created for, resulting in a powerful light side item that the Jedi can safely use against their enemies without fear of taint or corruption. Testing Screen This device, also known as an image emitter, was developed by the Jedi Council to test the telepathic abilities of Jedi trainees. It had no buttons or controls, and was manipulated solely via the Force. Contained in the memory banks of the screen were thousands of pictures, which could be displayed randomly or chosen by the user through the Force. This assured that a trainee couldn't oversee what the Master was doing, and guess at a correct answer. Using the screen, a Master could project into it a succession of images, which the trainee would have to interpret via their connection to the Force. Vor'Na'Tu This ancient Jedi artifact was destroyed by Echuu Shen-Jon on the planet Krant, in order to prevent the device from falling into the hands of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.
