Ankarres Sapphire This remarkable jewel was supposed to have special healing abilities. An individual who touched an injured limb with the stone soon found the wound healed. The stone was owned by Dom Pricina, until she failed to keep a vigilant watch over it while traveling on the Kuari Princess. The droid 4-LOM initially took it from her possession in order to protect it, but then realized that it could steal the stone without being caught. The droid later fenced the stone on Darlyn Boda, beginning its foray into the criminal world. When 4-LOM returned to Darlyn Boda with the survivors of the Bright Hope, he found that the stone had never been sold, so he reclaimed it and took it to his partner, Zuckuss. The Gand was recovering from breathing oxygen, and 4-LOM reasoned the stone might help him. 4-LOM also used the stone to help Samoc Farr. It is one of the most potent crystals that can be used in Lightsaber creation. Bindo's Band It is unknown whether this simple band was ever owned by the reclusive Jedi, but it is likely that Jolee would have appreciated its ability to help one walk the line between the light and dark sides of the Force. It is created in such a way that the user is slightly less effected by others using either the dark, or light side of the Force against them, though neutral powers will still affect them just as easily. Codex This form of DarkStryder technology was discovered by the crew of the FarStar, hidden inside an unusual alien construct deep in the Kathol Rift. In shape, the Codex is a small pyramid with a metallic surface. It was light in weight, and could be damaged by rough handling or by being dropped. Originally created to detect and quantify the Force, it also enhanced the Force-sensitivity of its user. The Aing-Tii Monks were very interested in obtaining the Codex, and trained Makezh to navigate the Rift in order to find it. They considered the alien construct and the Codex itself to be sacred and untouchable to themselves, but Makezh was immune to their religious beliefs. Darksword (Click For Picture) This weapon preceeds the lightsaber used by ancient Sith. It is essentially a saber made from duranium and plasmetically charged. When it is "switched on", and thus in the plasmetically charged mode, it can withstand a Lightsaber blade. Elixir of Infatuation Zeltrons distill this elixir for offworlders seeking to win the affections of others. A creature that imbibes the liquid becomes infatuated with the first creature he or she sees after the elixir is consumed. The mind-influencing effects last between 2 and 5 hours, although if the drinker knows that they are consuming it, they can try to fight the effects. Creatures who are tainted by the dark side in any way, or creatures taht are immine to mind-influencing effects are immune to the elixir. Because of this side-effect, it would be possible to use this elixir to test someone to see if they are tainted by the dark side. An infatuated creature regards the source of the infatuation as a trusted friend, confidante, and potential love interest. The elixir does not allow the source of the infatuation to control the infactuated creature. He can try to give the infactuated creature orders (assuming they share a common language), but the creature can choose not to follow them if it is something the creature would not usually do. The infatuated creature ignores blatantly suicidal orders. If the source of the infatuation threatens the infatuated creature in any way, either with his words or actions, the infatuated creature's mind will automaticlly try to fight off the effects of the elixir. When the effect wears off, the imbiber's feelings toward the source of the infatuation can remain the same, or change completely depending upon what has happened while they were under the effects of the elixir. A single vial holds one dose of the elixir, which is transparent and odorless. It retains its potency when poured on food or mixed with drink. Force Detector (Click For Picture) Once the Jedi Purge had eliminated all known and active Jedi, the Emperor turned his attention to other Force traditions, Jedi in disguise, and descendants of Force-sensitive bloodlines who may never have trained in the use of the Force. Such hidden Force-users were far more difficult to track down than the Jedi. Those who could control their powers used the Force to convince hunters to overlook them, while those who lacked such training rarely stood out from ordinary sentients. The Empire recruited dark side Force-users to investigate likely subjects, but it was clear that common Imperial troops also needed a method for detecting Force-sensitive creatures. One result of that desire was the creation of over ten thousand Force detectors. The devices required Thaissen Crystals found only on the planet Circarpous V (Mimban). The crystals glowed lightly in close proximity to a Force-sensitive individual-normally a bluish glow, but red when they were near a dark side Force-user. The illumination was so faint that it was only visible to the naked eye in total darkness. The Empire mined as many Thaissen Crystals as it could but never reached enough to build the hundreds of thousands of Force detectors the Emperor demanded. A typical detector consists of two smooth silver disks containing powdered Thaissen Crystals and sensory equipment. The disks connect by wires to a control pack that measures the slight luminescence of the powdered crystals. When passed to either side of a creature, the disks send enough information to the control pack for it to form a holographic image of the target, showing patches of blue (or red, in the case of a dark sider) for anyone who is Force-sensitive. The strength of the patches had some correlation to the amount of Force sensitivity the person had. Anyone without Force sensitivity did not register the blue patches. Fortunately for the future of the galaxy, Force detectors are far from perfect. They can only be used to scan a single creature at a time, have a range of mere centimeters, and are not always accurate. Each portable device weighs 9 kilograms. Even during the Rise of the Empire era, Force detectors were rare. Buying one on the black market took considerable effort and always attracted Imperial interest. By the time the Galactic Civil War began, the Emperor beleived that he had successfully eliminated the Jedi Order (though he was wrong). Most of the detectors were put into storage on Imperial Center, and a few were kept in the Emperors private museum. The majority of these were destroyed during the liberation of Coruscant. In the years after the fall of the Empire, Force detectors became less common. They generally weren't available, and they certainly weren't for sale. Force Focusing Visor Through means unknown, this visor helps the wearer clear their mind of distractions. It is especially potent when worn by a Force sensitive. Force Shield This helmet shields the wearer's mind from the Force. It is so potent and successful at its goal that Force sensitives are severely disoriented when they wear it. Heart of the Guardian (Click For Picture) Though its origins have been lost, the legendary artifact known as the Heart of the Guardian was rumored to have been instrumental in the founding of the guardian order of Jedi. Nothing further is mentioned in any Jedi archive, but both Sith and Jedi whisper their own legends. According to the Jedi, the Heart will appear in a time of greatest turmoil and deliver the galaxy into salvation. The Sith, however, beleive it to be an object of their heritage, which will bring the galaxy under their dominion. The Heart of the Guardian appears to be a magnificently shaped Lightsaber crystal of unknown composition. Analysis by Suvam Tan has yielded inconclusive results, not being able to identify what mineral it's made of. Suvam has even begun to wonder if it is a normal crystal at all, for at times it almost seems as if it were alive. All known Lightsaber crystals seem to have a strange resonance with the Heart of the Guardian, their properties being altered or enhanced when in close proximity to it. Additionally, energy focused through the Heart results in a beam of unique clarity and colour. Infant of Shaa (Click For Picture) This tiny statue was carved by the Seylotts as a way to contain large amounts of Force energy. Shaa was the primary deity of the Seylotts, and was often referred to as the Mother. The Seylotts carved a larger statue of Shaa to control the Infant and its power. Among the Seylotts, the Infant was known as the Destroyer of Worlds, for when its Force energy was released, it was believed that the resulting explosion could tear an entire planet apart. Shortly before the Clone Wars, the Infant was recovered by Jango Fett, who was under the employment of General Ashaar Khorda. Khorda desired the Infant for its power, and hoped to destroy Coruscant with it. Jango was convinced by his rival, Zam Wesell, to retrieve the Infant from Khorda's possession, in order to prevent the destruction of Coruscant. General Khorda nearly succeeded in unleashing the power of the Infant in a Coruscant power center, but Zam Wesell's ability to change her shape allowed her to grab the falling Infant before it could smash into the power core. The Jedi Master, Yarael Poof, then died trying to keep the Infant from exploding. The bounty hunters later returned the statue to Seylott. JK-series Droid Originally produced as a high-end security droid, these Cestus Cybernetics constructs were among the most advanced droids ever produced in the galaxy. First developed during the build-up to the Clone Wars, the JK-series used a form of "living circuitry" that employed the unique brain of an unfertilized dashta eel as its central processor. This gave the droid an unusual affinity to the Force, allowing it to anticipate the actions of an opponent. The chrome body of the JK-series was shaped like an hourglass, with several rows of narrow legs to to it around. When confronted with a possible intruder, the JK-series could move swiftly and silently to a new location, where it appeared almost benign until it registered a true threat. In that instant, the JK-series could assume any number of configurations, and bring to bear an unusual array of weaponry. Its primary attack mode involved the use of whiplike tentacles that emerged from its top and side. These tentacles were incredibly strong, and could cut through some of the hardest materials. After capturing its target with these tentacles, the JK-series drew the target into its body, holding it until help could arrive. The the target struggled, the tentacles could be drawn tighter, cutting into flesh or metal to force the target to submit. Other weaponry included shock netting, stun darts, and blasters. In addition to these mechanical capabilities, the JK-series was produced with specialized coatings that allowed the JK-series to blend into its surroundings. These droids were produced in small numbers during the height of the Clone Wars, but at incredibly high prices due to the delicate nature of the dashta eel. Mass-production was virtually impossible, since the number of dashta eels was limited. Nevertheless, the demand for these droids easily outpaced the supply. They were originally designed as security droids for the exceptionally wealthy, but with simple programming changes they could be adapted for use as combat droids. Because of their ability to anticipate an opponent's movements, the JK-series proved a formidable opponent for even the Jedi Knights. Due to several documented cases of a JK actually defeating a Jedi Knight in combat, they became known as Jedi Killers. When Count Dooku offered to provide Cestus Cybernetics with cloning technology to help produce more eels, the Separatist army was able to secure the rights to JK-series production. Unfortunately, it proved too difficult to clone the dashta eels, a fact that Dooku kept to himself while he spun an intricate plan to lure the Jedi and the Old Republic to Ord Cestus. The Jedi believed that the JK-series could be mass-produced, and that its innate abilities would make it exceptionally difficult to defeat. In this way, Dooku managed to trap Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kit Fisto on Ord Cestus, when they were dispatched to learn more about the JK-series. However, the Separatists' plans fell through when both Jedi Masters survived the mission, revealing to the Cestians and the rest of the galaxy that the JK-series was no longer a viable alternative for the Separatists. Further investigation revealed that the dashta eels would have gone insane on the battlefield, when ordered to actually kill another being. This information was something that the Five Families never revealed to Count Dooku, since it would have negated the deal before any credits could have been exchanged. Kaiburr Crystal (Click For Picture) A red gemstone capable of enhancing the user's Force strength, the Kaiburr Crystal increased the holder's perception of the Force, and this effect was magnified with larger portions of the crystal. Luke felt the gem's power with just a shard that was held by Halla. When he gained control of the entire gem, its power was revealed as a healing power. It healed the various mortal injuries Luke sustained in his battle with Darth Vader inside the Temple of Pomojema, as well as providing a link to the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which guided Luke's hand in the battle. Luke later used the power to help heal Leia's wounds. Halla maded the connection between the crystal's power and the rumors of Pomojema's priests performing healing miracles. Upon leaving Circarpous V, Luke gave control of the crystal to Halla, who held onto it. Luke's studies into Jedi lore also revealed that kaiburr crystals were the most powerful stones that could be used in the creation of lightsabers. However, the power of the Crystal was limited, and diminished greatly as it was moved farther from the Temple of Pomojema. Mantle of the Force (Click For Picture) The Mantle of the Force is an item assembled by Suvam Tan from pieces found in the ruins of Exar Kun's temples on the fourth moon orbiting Yavin. It appears to be the remains of an even older artifact of unknown origin. It is not known if it was used by Exar Kun, or just uncovered when his temples were destroyed. Nor is it known what the original properties of the item were, but given the current abilities, in its original state it must have been fearsome indeed. The Mantle is a crystalline lattice, resembling a Lightsaber crystal in many ways, but having the additional property of being able to radically alter the flow of energy that passes through it. When combined with other crystals, the Mantle warps their properties, often enhancing them to incredible levels. Additionally, the Mantle seems to almost act as a focusing tool for Force-sensitive individuals, leading to the idea that the original artifact may once have been a powerful tool of the Sith, or perhaps something they took with them when the dark Jedi originally split from the Order. Soul Snare (Click For Picture) This ancient device was used to capture the life energies of Force-sensitive individuals. Although they are trapped in the crystals for eternity, they can still communicate to the outer world with their voices, and generally scream for release after so long trapped in these "crystals". Star Forge (Click For Picture) A galaxy as ancient as ours is filled with inexplicable wonders and secrets lost to the ages. Long before the Galactic Repuclic held together the scattered worlds of the galaxy, the Rakatan Empire held many systems in thrall. The Rakata were incredibly advanced, but their warlike and aggressive spirit was their undoing. Their crowning achievent was the Star Forge, the ultimate war machine. The Star Forge was an enormous space-station/factory that harnessed the power of an entire star. Within its hull was a vast, intricate network of automated machines designed to mass-produce weaponry, droids, and starships. However, it was more than merely a metal construct. Its shadowed cavities were infused with the dark side of Force, endowing it with evil, breathing life. The Rakata home world orbited the sun to which the Star Forge was linked. On this planet the Rakata built a temple that housed a generator for a defensive field around the Star Forge. The field disrupted any electronic equipment that approached the Star Forge, causing ships to be caught in the gravitational field of the Rakatan planet. The Unknown World, as it was called, was littered with the wreckage of thousands of years of ships unlucky enough to stumble upon the Star Forge. During the ancient wars between the Sith and the Republic, the Sith Lords Darth Revan and Darth Malak followed ancient clues to locate the Star Forge, and tricked the remaining Rakatans to take control of the station. Malak wielded the Forge to produce an unending supply of Sith Star fighters and other combat material. He used captive Jedi to help fuel his power within the heart of the Star Forge. The Republic used a captive Revan to piece together clues as to the Star Forge's location, and eventually discovered the Unknown World. Republic forces attacked en masse, and despite devastating losses, were able to defeat Malak and the Star Forge. Star Map (Click For Picture) This ancient map was believed to have been created by the Rakata race, millennia before the Great Sith War, to provide instructions for locating the Star Forge. The map itself was actually made up of several smaller maps, which needed to be placed together in a certain way to form the overall Star Map. Like the Star Forge, the Star Map and its pieces were imbued with the Dark Side of the Force. The smaller maps were scattered across the galaxy to prevent anyone from locating the Star Forge, but clues eventually led to their discovery on Dantooine, Manaan, Kashyyyk, and Tatooine. The four pieces were located some 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin by Bastila Shan and her fellow Jedi Knights, who were searching for the whereabouts of Darth Malak. Universal Energy Cage (Click For Picture) During Emperor Palpatine's rise to power, he orchestrated the capture and extermination of nearly all the hated Jedi Knights. One of the potent tools used by his servants during this great purge was the universal energy cage, a trap designed to hold a Jedi Knight immobile and block his Force powers. The universal energy cage consists of a floating confinement sphere approximately three meters in diameter and is ringed by reinforced durasteel bars. No physical object, no matter how strong, is a match for Force powers that bestow on the user the ability to levitate objects or affect the thoughts and perceptions of others. Accordingly, the Imperial engineer Umak Leth, who later would design the infamous World Devastators, devised an elaborate system of overlapping superconductive coils that cloaked the containment sphere in an energy force field. That would effectively seal the captive Jedi within the cage. The cage's force field interrupts the Jedi's ability to manipulate the Force, preventing him from moving items that lie outside the cage or from tricking the guards into releasing him. The force field's intensity is variable and automatically increases as the Jedi applies more energy against it. In theory, it is capable of containing even the most accomplised Jedi Masters. A contact shock field is projected along the cage's interior to further prevent the Jedi from escaping, and the guards can increase the shock field's intensity to fill the entire cage and knock the Jedi unconcious if he appears to post a threat. For loading and unloading prisoners, additional energy projection coils and repulsorlift generators are placed near the sliding access bars to allow the force field and the repulsorfield to be projected as much as ten meters beyond the cage's perimeter. The cage's small repulsorlift unit can achieve a top speed of forty-five kilometers per hour. A handheld controller unit with a range of one hundred meters handles all the cage's functions: setting the intensity of the force fields and stun charges, opening the access bars, and directing the cage's movement. Universal energy cages are extremely rare, and it is believed that only a handful of them were ever manufactured. Luke Skywalker first learned of these devices when he travelled to the reincarnated Emperor's capital world of Byss. There, Imperial Sovereign Protectors used one of these cages to transport Luke and Artoo to Palpatine's towering Imperial Citadel. It is unknown how many of these cages still exist - perhaps hidden in the Emperor's abandoned treasure vaults scattered across the galaxy - but in the wrong hands they could represent a major threat to Luke Skywalker's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Knights. Void Stone The Void Stone, a meteorite from the Charon's home galaxy, serves as a holy relic and has an unusual property. The stone dampens the abilities of Force-users. Any Force-user within 100 meters of the stone (anywhere within the cave network on Kayri III) is unable to call on the Force as easily as they normally would. In addition, all Force powers that they can use have their effectiveness reduced. Wild Force Shard This was the term used by the Jedi Order of the Old Republic to describe any artifact - usually a crystal - which had been imbued with the power of the Force. The shard actually resonated with the Force, sending out ripples of energy that affected the world around it. Because the shard simply existed in the Force, it lacked any affinity to the Light Side or the Dark Side. Instead, it simply altered the effects of the Force in its vicinity. Although any Force-sensitive individual could hold the shard and use it to augment their own powers, such use was frowned upon by the Jedi Order because the shard could amplify either side of the Force, potentially turning a good Jedi down a path of evil. Xythan Force Shield This unusual, personal comabt shield was developed by Cestus Cybernetics during the height of the Clone Wars, and turned over to Asajj Ventress and the Separatists for their use. The Xythan shield absorbed and returned any energy it came into contact with, making it especially useful in repelling Lightsaber attacks. |
