Archaic Lightsaber (Click For Picture) This version of the Lightsaber, although not used for very long, is still a very large step in the history of the Lightsaber. Unlike the elegant weapons of the Jedi Knights used during the last decades of the Old Republic, the archaic lightsaber was designed as a siege weapon. It was used in between the time of the Protosaber and the modern Lightsaber. It still requires the cable leading to a hip pack but this is now a battery pack which has a longer life span than the old power packs used by the Protosaber. However, this version of the Lightsaber now uses "frozen blaster" technology and is constructed easier due to the hilt being made from common materials rather than being crafted personally by the Force user. This was one of the reasons it was not used much, many Jedi liked having a fully customized saber instead, and soon after it was released the modern Lightsaber was developed and they became obsolete. Over the millennia, the Jedi Knights were able to miniaturized most of the components used in the construction of a lightsaber, most notably power sources, to create the simple weapon known to most beings of the modern era. Note that these were originally called Lightsabers until they became obsolete. (Old, outdated Lightsaber. Not used anymore). Axesaber (Click For Picture) This is simply an ordinary Vibroaxe with a lightsaber hilt built into it's grip. However, the axe has a cortosis core so that it can withstand hits from a any other form of light-weapon so as to protect the users own hand. (Not to be confused with the Lightaxe) Double-Bladed Dual-Setting Lightsaber (Click For Picture) Look at Double-Bladed Lightsaber and Dual-Setting Lightsaber and mix them together. Double-Bladed Lightsaber (Click For Picture) An ultra rare light-weapon, the double lightsaber consisted of an elongated handle (about 2.25 times the normal length), which projects a blade from each end. This gave it the versatility and speed against attacks of a quarterstaff, but made it MUCH more dangerous to the user. For this reason, it could usually be used like a normal, single bladed lightsaber. This was considered by many Jedi to be a Dark Side weapon, mainly because its most famous user was the Sith Lord Exar Kun. Less than a dozen examples were ever made. Double Lightsaber Broadsword (Click For Picture) The handle is a normal looking Lightsaber handle but it spreads out into what looks like 2 business ends of lightsabers were practicaly welded together. The blade looks like essentially 2 blades very close together (The slightly transparent glowing part between the actual blades are over-lapping), and it is a heafty length. Downgraded Lightclaws (Click For Picture) These are simply Lightclaws that are not as long. They are used by many Force users on stealth missions where the full Lightclaws would draw too much attention. Although they can't cut through solid matter, they can cause internal and external burning to organic beings and will slowly melt non-organic materials. For this reason, many Dark Jedi enjoy this weapon as they prefer causing a lot of pain to their targets then eventually killing them after many hours of slow torture. They can deflect other Lightweapons and also blaster bolts although they are rarely used for the second purpose as one wrong move and your hand would be seriously damaged. Dual-Setting Lightsaber (Click For Picture) This is a rare and unusual variation on the normal lightsaber, in that it had two different settings. In the first, it has the normal length, but more powerful, as the traditional lightsaber. In the second setting, the blade losses about 15% of it's power, but doubles in length. This extra length is useful for keeping others at a greater distance, but makes it much more unwieldy to deflect blaster bolts and attack. For these reason, it used primarily by young, reckless Jedi, who eventually decide to keep it in its first setting, or going to a traditional saber. It was, however, popular with some Jedi who rode into battle on beast back. The dual nature of the blade often gave it a stunning blade-within-a-blade appearance, with one color forming the core, and a second, clearly different one forming the outside sheath. Less than two hundred examples were ever made. Dual-Setting Plasmasaber Look at Plasmasaber and Dual-Setting Lightsaber and mix them together. Dueling Lightsaber (Click For Picture) Constructed by Jedi practitioners of lightsaber form 2, these curved-handled weapons are specially designed for duels against lightsabers (or other melee weapons). After the battle of Ruusan and the disappearance of the Sith, the chances of a Jedi facing combat against a lightsaber was almost nonexistant. Form 2 lost popularity, and its characteristic curved-handle style of lightsaber became impractical. A dueling saber’s design decreases its wielder’s ability to parry blasters and aim reflected. With proper training, however, the design can greatly increase the wielder’s skill in combat against melee weapons or lightsabers. The parts for straight and curved lightsabers are slightly different, but no additional parts are necessary and cost remains the same. Force Lash (Click For Picture) The Force Lash, when deactivated, looks much like a lightsaber handle. The actual lash is a telescoping wave guide, approximately 80cm long. The guide is encased in energy. This guide (and the energy wrapped around it) is somewhat flexible, but not enough to wrap around the target. It was used as a training aid, although some Jedi (especially Baadu and Dark Siders) carried them instead of a lightsaber. Great Lightsaber This lightsaber was similar to a standard lightsaber in most respects, but the focusing crystals and power supply of the great lightsaber could produce a blade up to 300 centimeters in length. They were very rare, even during the height of the Jedi Order, because of the amount of training required to be able to wield one effectively. Lightaxe (Click For Picture) An artifact that was given to Garth Knight by his master, Carmon Duuley, as what could be called a graduation gift. It is a slightly longer cylinder than the lightsaber, except that the emitter matrix is a slit along the side at one end, preducing more of a fan-like blade instead of the straight blade of the lightsaber. (Not to be confused with the Axesaber). Lightbatons (Click For Picture) These are basically ordinary Lightsabers with perpendicular grips, which makes them require entirely different training to use than an ordinary Lightsaber. The only Lightbatons known to have existed were in possession of Sinya, a Black Sun Vigo's bodyguard. How she acquired or made these are unknown, as she was not a Force user. Light Boomerang The light boomerang was at one time a highly prized weapon, used primarily by Jedi who enjoyed showing off or where on the front lines of the Sith conflicts. Today, there are none believed to still exist, and only a scant handful of scholars know of it's existence. Like the Lightwhip and force lash, it uses crystal, wave-guide and mirror technology to create an energy field around the actual weapon. For safety reasons, it may only be activated telekinetically, otherwise the user's hand would be instantly removed. Once thrown, the Jedi would be able to guide his weapon against several targets in one throw. Attempting to use this weapon without intense training is suicidal. Lightbow You can't parry with arrows (obviously), but you can shoot them to deflect shots aimed at anyone. Also, when deflecting a shot aimed at him, a Jedi may shoot at the attacker deflecting blaster bolt in flight and hitting him with his arrow. However, this stunt is pretty difficult to pull off. Also, the Jedi may try to control where the shot will go, but this is terribly difficult, even for experienced Jedi. Also, if the Jedi deflects a shot aimed at a target outside of short range, he must use TK to speed the arrow up. Please note that this gives no increase in damage, as it is not Strength-based...Lightarrows must be made using Ilum crystals (no place for power source), and the lightblade is rather weak and short (about 3-5 centimeters). Lightbows (as they were called by ignorants) were mainly used by Factotums for target protection (esp. if the target did not want a Jedi protection, so nobody could be near him and deflect the bolt with his saber). Some warriors also used them, but this was very rare... The most famous lightbow-using Jedi was Tell, a blind Warrior with no hands. He used a crossbow with a special durraloy bow, which had a pull of over 500 kgs. He cocked and aimed it with telekinesis... And he used lightbolts only for target protection, because arrows shot from his crossbow were so powerful he had no need of some lightblade fixed on them... Lightcesta (Click For Picture) This is merely a normal Gungan Cesta which has a Lightsaber hilt built into it so that the top of it sprouts forth a Lightsaber blade. It is mainly used by Gungan Jedi when riding on Kaadu as a regular lightsaber would not reach the ground. Many Jedi like the fact that this weapon can also be used as a non-lethal weapon as it can be switched off and used just as one would use a regular cesta. Lightclaws This is an unusual weapon, used mainly by Dark Jedi Assassins. They may be concealed in the sleeves of a tunic or robe. Each claw emits a pair of blades about a meter long. They may also be used to help climbers. Lightdagger (Click For Picture) This is a smaller version of the lightsaber. The handle was usually 13cm long (as opposed to 25-30cm), and slightly slimmer than the saber's. The blade is only about 20cm long, instead of the normal 60-70cm length of a lightsaber. It was typically used for training or utility purposes, or carried by Jedi as a combat backup. |
